The much-anticipated Volta Regional Minister’s Cup concluded in thrilling fashion yesterday at the Volta Youth Resource Center, Adaklu, with Team Kpando emerging as champions after a hard-fought final decided by penalty shootout.

The tournament, which brought together teams from across the Region, showcased exceptional talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship. After an intense competition, Team Kpando triumphed, securing the coveted trophy and cementing their place as the best football team in the Region.

Individual Awards

 Top Scorer: Kunjam Samuel (Team Kpando) – 2 goals
 Best Goalkeeper: Kpeti Zaphnat (Team Kpando)
 Best Player: Nortu Paul (Team Tongu)

The tournament’s champions were awarded a cash prize of GHS 3,000 along with the coveted trophy, while the runners-up received GHS 2,000. Additionally, each participating team was granted GHS 500, new jerseys, football, rice, and other essentials, underscoring the organizers commitment to supporting local football development.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Gabriel Adovoe Kwabla Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, the Volta Regional elected member of the Council of State, whose presence highlighted the significance of the tournament in promoting regional unity and sportsmanship.

Sponsors added to the festive atmosphere by distributing fan milk/yogurt to all attendees, enhancing the day’s celebratory mood.

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, commended all participating teams for their dedication and fighting spirit. He reaffirmed his commitment to sports development in the Region, emphasizing that such tournaments provide a platform for young talents to shine and progress to higher levels in their football careers.

The Volta Regional Minister’s Cup 2025 was a resounding success, bringing communities together through the love of football and setting the stage for future sporting excellence in the region.
