The Korean Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Kyongsig Pork, has paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, in Ho. The visit, which included Ghana’s Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Acting Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyia, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and the Volta Regional Health Directorate, highlighted the strong health partnership between Ghana and Korea.
Hon. James Gunu expressed deep appreciation for the continuous support from Korea, emphasizing that “health is wealth” and that the collaboration would help alleviate health challenges in the Region. He also expressed hope for more health-related projects in the future.
His Excellency Kyongsig Pork reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in the health sector, stating, “We hope to extend a cooperative hand and do our share in improving healthcare in the Region.”
Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Health, acknowledged Korea as one of Ghana’s most reliable health partners. He noted that significant resources have been directed to the Volta Region, particularly Ho, with the aim of positioning it as a hub for medical tourism. He further stressed the need for improved maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability of health facilities in the Region.
The visit marks another step in the deepening of Ghana-Korea relations in healthcare, with expectations of more initiatives to boost medical infrastructure and services in the Volta Region.
