The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) held its matriculation ceremony today, welcoming 2,775 newly admitted students into various academic disciplines, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Health Service Administration, the Graduate School, Allied Health Sciences, and Sports and Exercise Medicine.
The solemn event was led by Ms Yaa Amankwaa Opunu-Registrar of UHAS, who administered the matriculation oath to the fresh students. Two student representatives signed the oath on behalf of their colleagues and encouraged their peers to be inquisitive, embrace a learning spirit, support one another, and uphold strong values in their academic journey.
Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, who graced the occasion, launched new academic programs for the University, commending UHAS for expanding opportunities in critical areas of the Health Sciences. He also commissioned a pickup truck, originally assigned for COVID-19 operations, which has now been re-designated to enhance security on campus. Hon Gunu re-affirmed Mahama led government’s resolve to bring development to the University.
In her remarks, Prof. Lydia Aziato highlighted that UHAS has successfully graduated and has a population of about 10,000 students. She urged the new students to take their oath seriously, uphold the university’s core values of Excellence, Integrity, Innovation, Service, and Care, and strive for distinction in all they do.
The event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the new students, reinforcing UHAS’s commitment to training professionals who will make a lasting impact in the health sector.
